Norma L. Herman, 84, of Marion, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at home after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, at Manchester First Lutheran Church by Rev. Dr. Jean Rabary. The family will greet friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.

Survivors include her nephews, Fred (Kay) Herman of Dubuque, Jim Herman of Olin, Ron Herman of Hopkinton, and Don (Lucia) Herman of Anamosa; nieces, Sharon (Stuart) Clark of Tipton, and Sheryl (Duane) McDonald of Anamosa. Norma is also survived by many great- nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence Herman, Albert Herman, Henry Herman; and sister, Irma Herman. She was also preceded in death by two infant brothers and one infant sister.

Norma was born July 5, 1924, in Manchester to Theophil and Emma (Schade) Herman. She attended Manchester High School, graduating in the Class of 1941. She also attended Lennox College and Upper Iowa University. Norma was a teacher in various locations in Eastern Iowa for many years. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, and active with the Marion Senior Dining Group.
