Norma Jeanne Railsback Elson, 82, of Bickford Assisted Living in Marion, Iowa, formerly of Palo, Iowa. On Thursday, June 1, 2023, her soul entered Heaven to enjoy the eternal life won for her through the death and resurrection of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, until the time of service. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Hiawatha, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Norma was born on October 9, 1940, the daughter of Cecil and Daisy Deanne (Mowbray) Railsback. She was raised on a farm in Palo. Norma was baptized into Christ on October 25, 1942, and confirmed on June 6, 1954, both at Zion Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Shellsburg, Iowa. She graduated from Palo High School on May 21, 1958. On July 25, 1959, Norma married Marvin Richard Elson at Zion Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Shellsburg. The couple were blessed with two children: Kathy Jeanne Elson and Ricky Lee Elson. Norma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Hiawatha. She got her CDL in 2002. She loved being with Marv in his semi and enjoyed driving it herself. Norma loved horses, trail riding, and that her son, Ricky was her horseshoer. She began taking piano lessons from her daughter Kathy and loved it. Norma will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Norma is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Kathy (Corey) Elson-Baker, and Ricky Elson of Springville; grandchildren, Jessica, Keaton, Simon, Arron, and Zeke; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Ayden; brother, Jerry Railsback of Cedar Rapids; sister, Carol Anne Kaut of Minnesota; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Hiawatha.
Norma loved everything about her time spent at Bickford of Marion.
