Norma White Claassen, 85, a resident of Meth-Wick, died Friday, October 18, 2002, at the care center. Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation in memory of her life at The Center in Meth-Wick Manor from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2002.

Survivors include three sons, Robert and wife Mary, James and wife Connie and Donald and wife Trudy; eight grandchildren, Christina Slaton, Kelly and Kendra Claassen, Justin and Kate Claassen, Sam, Max and Grace Claassen; and nine great-grandchildren.

Norma was born April 18, 1917, the daughter of Theodore and Ora White. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Coe College where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Social Sorority. She married William (Bill) Claassen February 7, 1942. As a wife, mother and teacher she enjoyed community volunteering, many years in the mental health area. Most recently she spent fifteen years as a buyer for the Meth-Wick Community gift shop. "Our Town? is a book written about the creation and development of Meth-Wick covering 1961-1999, all from an idea that Bart Wick had about creating a home for aged men to the "Town? it is today.

Memorials may be made to Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa, 1500 2nd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403, in memory of Norma.
