Norbert J. Knepper, 76, of Toddville, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at ManorCare Nursing and Rehab, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by Pastor Dennis Sackett. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the funeral home. Inurnment: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville, at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; his children, Dennis (Joan) of Warrior Run, Pennsylvania, Donald (Sandy) of Anamosa, Debra Adamson (Doug) of Center Point, Douglas (Jan) of Belton, Missouri, Donna Novak (Dan) of Center Point and Dale (Raemee) of Olathe, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Josephine Neville of Anamosa and Odelia Doden of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Hilda McDermitt, Marian Kearney and Monica Oyen; and four brothers, Frances, Cyril, Sam and Arnold Knepper.
Norbert was born April 27, 1932, the son of Joseph and Mae (Leytem) Knepper, in Cascade, Iowa. On June 11, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Wright, in Cascade. A long time resident of the Toddville area, Norbert farmed in his early years and was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed cooking, mushroom hunting and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Norbert loved working in the yard and especially, helping his family. Once he set his mind to something, he would accomplish it.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
