Nora Sutton, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at the Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Visitation: 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 1:00 p.m. Monday following the visitation. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Patty) Petersen, Ronald (Wendy) Petersen, Deborah Jackson, Donna (Michael) Cummins, James (Holly) Moore and Steven Moore; 22 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nora; and a grandson, Michael Petersen.
Nora was born on April 28, 1926, in Iowa City, Iowa, daughter of Nora Ellen Hess. She married Bill Sutton, he later passed. Nora worked for Ernie’s Tavern for 22 years, Sykora Bakery in Czech Village for 4 years and also at Cramer’s in downtown Cedar Rapids. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, going to garage sales, shopping, dancing, and reading.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.
