Nora Belle Schenke

Nora B. Schenke, 90, of Manchester, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a short illness.
Nora will be remembered at the memorial service on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Burial will be in Arizona at a later date. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Nora was born on June 10, 1914 in Tazwell, Virginia, the daughter of William and Florence (Shorit) Sheppard. On February 28, 1955, Nora was united in marriage to Donald Schenke at the Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Nora loved the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and looking for mushrooms. She loved to discover rocks, especially agates. Her favorite pastime was going to the library to do research. Nora was always happy going out to eat.
Nora is survived by a son, William Johnson of Arizona; three brothers, Joe, Bill & Charles Sheppard; sisters-in-law, Ilene Holthaus of Colesburg, Delores Diesch of Earlville, and Betty Rind of Middle Amana; and nieces and nephews.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents, William & Florence Sheppard; her husband, Donald Schenke; two sisters, Vi Ashford and Della Whitney; and a brother, Richard Sheppard.
