Neva (Geneva) Reed Weis, 82, of 1720 Derby Avenue N.E., Swisher, died Sunday, October 17, 2004, at Living Center West following a long term illness with Alzheimers. Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 22, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Marilyn Buchanan. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh; her children, Sheryl Jean (Weis) Brecht and husband William of Swisher and Dean Alan Weis and wife Barbara of Arlington, Texas; four very cherished grandchildren, Kirk Everette Brecht and Kasey Alan Brecht, both of Swisher and Emily Weis and Olivia Weis, both of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth M. Reed and wife Avis of Cedar Rapids and Bill (William) F. Reed and wife Shirley of Vinton; two sisters, Ruth Null Phipps and husband Roscoe of Cedar Rapids and Joyce Darlene (Reed) Gorsuch of Barnes City; special cousins, Vivian Vogel and husband Elmer of Fulton, Illinois; a very dear special niece, Paula Rose (Gericke) Nielsen and husband Harold of Walker; and a very special nephew, Mitchell Everette Gericke and wife Janet of Walker; many more beloved nieces and nephews, plus several great nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Maxine G. Phipps and Rosalyn (Reed) Gericke.
Neva was born August 26, 1922, the daughter of William Everette and Elsie (Hartson) Reed, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She worked for an insurance company and then as a Legal Secretary. Neva was active in the Buffalo United Methodist Church and had been involved in cub scouts. She enjoyed reading, flowers and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.
