Nelda L. Weaver, 82, of 3900 Midway Drive N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, February 5, 2012, at home. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Joe Kane.
Survivors include her children, John Weaver, Jr., of Henderson, Nevada, Richard Weaver of Cedar Rapids and Laurie Weaver of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Martin Jennings, of Springville and sister, Irma O’Connor, of Cedar Rapids.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Jack; parents; granddaughter, Dawn Weaver; and siblings, Rozel Kelly, Clarence Witt, Walt Witt, Dell Witt, Marie Shrogen, Ray Witt, Charlotte Schave, Donna Jones, John Witt, Jr. and Darlene Haugen.
Born December 27, 1929, in Ossian, Iowa, Nelda was the daughter of John and Nellie (Thornton) Witt. On May 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jack Weaver in Decorah, Iowa. He died July 28, 2010.
Nelda was the Skip-bo Queen and enjoyed researching genealogy, crossword puzzles, baking cooking, canning and was famous for her blackberry jelly.
