Neil John McGee, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospital. Graveside Services: 2 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Linwood Mausoleum. Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Monday, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Jerry (Nina Sue) McGee, Mabel Schluessler, Linda Davis, Neil McGee III, Timothy McGee, and Scarlet Soliday; step-children, Gene (Shirley) Shay, Larry (Marge) Shay, Karen (Kyle) Reynolds, and Jim (Debbie) Shay; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Neil was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Adella Shay, who died on January 20, 2009; his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Neil was born March 10, 1919 in Chariton, Iowa. He was a lifelong farmer in the Albia area and a great outdoorsman, who loved telling stories. Neil loved his flowers and enjoyed woodworking.
