Neil L. Dufoe, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids. In agreement with Neil’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service for the family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. Arrangements are made by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Neil was born on July 31, 1942, in Center Point, Iowa, son of Doran E. and Genevieve R. (Oliphant) Dufoe. Neil served in the Vietnam War and was a long time member of the Center Point American Legion. Neil and Peggy (Vanderlinde) were united in marriage on November 2, 1984 in Hiawatha, Iowa. Neil and Peggy enjoyed the outdoors in the Black Hills. He always wanted to see what was around the next corner or over the next hill.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Dufoe; children, Jeffery (Debra) Dufoe, Michael (Jodi) Dufoe; step-son, Richard (Jane) Poell; grandchildren, Ava Dufoe and Elise Dufoe; step-grandchildren, Chandler Poell and Alexis Poell; sisters, Barbara (Larry) Roseberry and Janyce (Greg) Larson; mother-in-law, Pat Vanderlinde; extended family, Huns (Judy) Vanderlinde, Donna (Dave) Hoese, George Jr. (Jane) Vanderlinde, Allen (friend, Mary) Vanderlinde, Kay (Mark) Farniok, Henry (Diane) Vanderlinde, Lori (Mike) Bauer and Scott (Jennifer) Vanderlinde; and many caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, George Vanderlinde; and one sister, Donna Dufoe.
