Neil Ewing DeLaHunt, 84, of 2524 Illinois Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006, in Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cedar Rapids by Bishop David Bullock. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha, Iowa, with military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Irene, his children, Jeff (special friend, Diane) of Emporia, Kansas, and Greg (special friend, Diana) DeLaHunt of Persia, Iowa, Cinda (Jackson) Crosley of Austin, Texas, Dennis (Kathy) McNeal of Ossian, Iowa, and Daniel (Kate) McNeal of Cedar Rapids; his daughter-in-law, Verna McNeal-White of Urbandale; his sisters, Janet Janss of Alburnett and Leah DeLaHunt of Oelwein. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Erica DeLaHunt, Kym Chance, Steven Crosley, Abby and MaKenzie McNeal, Emilee, Briana, Ean, Maggie, and Lauren McNeal, and Jennifer, Jamie, Robert, Christopher, Danielle, and Mathew DeLaHunt; two great-grandchildren, Eric and Carson Chance; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Eric McNeal.

Neil was born January 7, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harold and Edna(Ewing) DeLaHunt. On December 20, 1980, he married Irene Fisher in Strawberry Point, Iowa. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. Neil enlisted in the Army during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He retired from the railroad, was a semi driver, and was last employed by Kwik-Way. Neil was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298 and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Cedar Rapids.
