Ned Bernard Smith

Ned Bernard Smith, 91, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at his home. As per Ned’s wishes no service will take place, Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Manchester, is assisting the family.
Ned was born on July 11, 1930, near Delhi, Iowa, the son of Ayery and Irene (Hilsenbeck) Smith. He attended Delhi school, until the family moved to the Golden area near Ryan, Iowa. He graduated from Buck Creek School, and then joined the Air Force, where he served and retired after twenty years. While stationed in Japan, he met and married Wakako “Suzy” Tanaka. After his military service, they returned to the family farm. Later they resided in Coggon, and then Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzy.
Surviving are sons, Ayery and Cyrus; brother, Don; and nieces and nephews.
