Natalie Olive Tubbs was born September 25, 1919, in Duluth, Minnesota, the daughter of Lawrence and Ida (Nielson) Tronsdal. She received all of her education in Duluth and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1937. This was followed by two years at Duluth State Teacher's College, where she received her certificate to teach in 1939. After attending summer sessions, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1954, from the University of Minnesota at Duluth. She then went on to teach until 1961. She taught in one room schools for three years. She then taught for two years in Deerwood, Minnesota and for 17 years in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
On March 11, 1961, she married John “Jack” Tubbs at the Zion Lutheran Church in Duluth, Minnesota and then went to live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as he had his own business there. In Cedar Rapids they were members of Hope Lutheran Church, where she served on various committees of the Lutheran Women’s Club. Natalie always enjoyed all the trips she and Jack took through the years. They traveled to Apache Junction, Arizona, where they spent several winters. In the summer they enjoyed going to Minnesota and Canada to go fishing. Natalie enjoyed reading, crafts, sewing quilts for church, knitting, crocheting and, of course, fishing.
Natalie is survived by a sister, Gloria Picciolo of Tamarac, Florida and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruth (John) Mehle, Lola (Richard) Gronseth; step daughter, Jackie (Larry) Kelley; nephew, Craig Gronseth; and brother-in-law, Rosary Picciolo.
