Naomi M. Darling, 89, 405 N. 15th Avenue, Hiawatha, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003. The Rev. Ed Powers will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Karen) Darling of Cedar Rapids; and a grandson, Sean Darling of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve; three brothers; and a sister.
Naomi was born May 11, 1913, the daughter of George and Naomi (Hayward) Barlow, in Tama, Iowa. On January 23, 1937, she was united in marriage to Steve Darling in Toledo, Iowa. He died in November of 1989. Naomi worked in the offices of Great Plains Gas, Operating Engineers and retired from Borden?s Dairy and Sunline, Inc. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and Pautz Fellowship. Naomi will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
