Nancyann Therese Cortez (Grommon)

Nancyann T. Cortez, 61, of 4118 Paradise Court NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007, in her home following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Marti Montavani. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Carlos; sons, Timothy Allan (Nancy) Cortez and Shawn Michael (Kellee) Cortez both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Colton, Brady, Gabrielle, Cody and Kyle; and brothers, Joe Grommon, Dave (Donna) Grommon, and Tom (Phyllis) Grommon all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald Grommon.
Nancyann was born December 31, 1945, the daughter of David and Helen (Stangl) Grommon. On February 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to Carlos Cortez in Oregon, Illinois.
Nancyann had served as Commodore of the Cedar Boat Club and on the Royer Commission in 1996. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to her nieces, Debra and Angie, to her daughters-in-law and to Oncology Associates of Cedar Rapids.
