Nancy Wheeler, 74, of the Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, died there Tuesday, September 26, 2006, following a long illness. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Dave Soldner with Amenity Hospice. The family will greet friends from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include one daughter, Gayle (Jeff) Beary of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Gloria of Des Moines and Sally of Waukon; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Bosen of Waterloo, Julie (David) Boots of Marion and Jannell (Heath) Harman of Center Point; 9 great grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren.
Also surviving are step children, Richard Wheeler of Amana, Debbie Michel, Ronald Wheeler and John Wheeler all of Georgia.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wheeler; two children, Gary Griffin and Gene Griffin; and two sisters, Jean and Audrey.
Born February 21, 1932, in Decorah, to Clyde and Zerelda (Doll) Sharpe, she married John Wheeler in Las Vegas.
Nancy was a long time member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sharing her cooking with family and friends, and listening to polka music.
