Nancy Lee Vargason

Nancy Lee Vargason, 67, of Tipton, entered Heaven’s gates on July 5, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service Celebrating her Life will be held at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Mike Morgan. Nancy will be laid to rest at Oak Shade Cemetery.
Nancy was born November 7, 1948, in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Edna Cowell. She graduated from Central City High School in 1966, and then attended Kirkwood Community College. On January 12, 1969, at St. Patrick’s Church in Cedar Rapids, she married James Hanson. They later divorced. Nancy worked at Rockwell Collins as an Administrative Assistant.
Nancy enjoyed watching races, gameshow network, ION television, and Iowa Hawkeyes. Her passions were gardening, bowling, and photography. Nancy’s favorite treats were doublemint gum, black jellybeans, black licorice, candy, and Coke-a-Cola. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by her five children, Laura (Steve) Hamilton of Marion, Kimberlee (Paul) Bogs of Cedar Rapids, Angi Dunkel of Marion, Eric (Amber) Hanson of Tipton, and Jason (Michele) Hanson of Prairieburg; 12 grandchildren, Lydia Hamilton, Makaila Bogs, Abigail Bogs, Liam Bogs, Brianna Dunkel, Nicholas Dunkel, Katy Hanson, Sage Hanson, Kaleb Dixon, Jayden Hanson, Christopher Hanson and Kendall Hanson; 3 sisters, Rhonda, Rebecca, and Cindy; a brother, Robert Cowell, Jr.; a special niece, Teresa; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kirk; and grandson, Paul Jr.
A memorial fund has been established in Nancy’s memory.
