Nancy Lee Seeman (Umbarger)
February 24, 1945 — January 20, 2008
Nancy L. Seeman, 62, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Belle Plaine, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, January 20, 2008. Services: 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include her beloved dog, Dollee, whom was her greatest joy; her sons, Gerald (Paula) Seeman of Marion, Jeff Seeman of Blairstown, Allen Seeman of Center Point, and David Jr. (Lyn) of Tripola; her siblings, Tom (Mary) Umbarger of Keystone, Robert Bolyard of Marion, Timmie Bolyard of Marion, Glenda Geske (Randy Smith) of Cedar Rapids, and Cindy (Mike) Herman of Belle Plaine; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a special friend, Joe Kolash of Belle Plaine.
She was preceded in death by her two fathers, Cecil Umbarger and Glenn Bolyard; her mother, Sylvia Bolyard; and a sister, Gloria Stout.
Nancy was born February 24, 1945, the daughter of Cecil E. and Sylvia L. (Ross) Umbarger in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married David E. Seeman, Sr. on December 15, 1962 in Marion, Iowa. They later divorced. She worked at Rockwell Collins for several years after that.
Nancy enjoyed camping, playing the slots, bingo, fishing and traveling. She was a member of several motorcycle riding groups including her Harley Davidson Hog Group and ABATE of Iowa. She was also a member of the Plaine Belle’s Red Hat Club of Belle Plaine and was a former member of Marion Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Nancy’s memory.
