Nancy A. Colbert, 67, of 228 Wilson Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday morning, December 17, 2003, in her home, following a long courageous battle with heart disease. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2003, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Harry Koelker. Burial: St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, where a vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m., conducted by, Sister Mary Lechtenberg. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband, James; children, Jim (Karen) Colbert of Ames, Susan (Paul) Hyler of Oakland, California, Sally (Pat) Kenney of Phoenix, Arizona, Mary (Dwight) Lancaster of Boston, Massachusetts, and Marty (Kristi Koehn) Colbert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Jamie Colbert, Jessica Kenney, Adam Colbert, Mikki Colbert, Sean Kenney, Michael Kenney, Mary Kenney, and Georgia Hyler; a brother, George Shearer of San Jose, California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jane; and three infant daughters, Catherine, Theresa and Martha.

Born February 2, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to George and Eleanor (Dvorak) Shearer, she married James Bernard Colbert on August 20, 1955, in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. In 1992, Nancy graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. degree from University of Iowa. She was a homemaker, an author, and was very active in St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
