Myron W. Rodee, 86, of Marion, died surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 20, 2014, at his home, due to complications from Lewey Body Parkinson’s Disease. Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Ascension Lutheran Church, Marion, by Pastor Linda Livingston.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; his children, Michael (Elizabeth) Rodee of Wichita, KS, and Jodee (Robert) Gaines of Marion; grandsons, Benjamin Lohr, and Mark (Becky) Rodee; granddaughters, Alyson Rodee, Kaitlyn Rodee, Molly Lohr, and Katelyn (Taylor) Wilkin; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Lohr, Kylee Rodee, Alexandria Rodee, and Eli Wilkin; and brother, Robert Rodee of Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Burrill; sisters, Myrna Sutton and Mardell Deputy; daughter, Brenda Kay Rodee, who died at age six; and grandson, Andy Rodee, who died at age six months.

Myron was born November 26, 1927, in Emporia, KS, the son of Burrill and Gladys (Wright) Rodee. After graduating from high school, Myron joined the Army serving during the US occupation of Japan in WWII. Following his military service, he attended Emporia State Teachers College, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Special Education. After teaching and coaching football in Kansas for several years, Myron went on to the University of Iowa to earn his PhD. He served as Director of Special Education for Grantwood Area Education Agency for 23 years before his retirement. During his retirement, Myron volunteered with Metro Youth Football and Marion Athletic Booster Club. He enjoyed playing golf, building model railroads and was proud to have built a peaceful waterfall and pond that is still enjoyed by his family today.
