Myrna M. Niehaus, 79, of Colesburg, Iowa, died Thursday, October 12, 2017. Visitation: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Bohnenkamp - Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at Colesburg United Methodist Church, Colesburg, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment: Brown Cemetery, Colesburg.

Myrna was born June 4, 1938, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Florence (Hansel) Walters. She graduated from Colesburg High School. Myrna married Fred Niehaus on June 11, 1956, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colesburg. Two sons were born to this union. The couple later divorced. Myrna enjoyed many years with her longtime companion, Bob Schrobilgen, until his death. She then married Gene Hintgen, the couple later divorced. Myrna was an avid sports fan, attending many Ed-Co games, where she was always willing to share her opinion. She enjoyed gardening and visiting with the many people she met while employed with Ed-Co Schools and Woods Edge Golf Course. Myrna was affectionately known as the “Colesburg Grandma” to many.

Myrna is survived by two sons, Chuck (Robin) Niehaus of Colesburg, and Jeff (Jolene) Niehaus of Edgewood; grandchildren, Sarah (Rex) Meyer of Colesburg, Beth (Kirt) Randall of McGregor, Lindsey (Adam) Sherman of Winthrop, Courtney (Rob) Reinsmoen of Solon, Nikki (Emerson) Ries of Earlville; great-grandchildren Lucas and Austin Meyer, Austin and Taylor Randall, Ethan, Alli, and Avery Reinsmoen, and Owen and Aunya Ausborn; brother, Joe (Sharon) Walters of New Vienna; brother-in-law, Les VonHandorf; sister-in-law, Kathy Walters; and many nieces and nephews.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Nancy VonHandorf and Darnelle Knipper, brothers, Pat Walters and Chet Walters; grandson, Eric Ausborn; and nephew, Scott Knipper.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Colesburg Fire Department or the Ed-Co Booster Club.
