Myrla Pauline Edaburn, 96, a resident of Northbrook Manor, formerly of Center Point, died Sunday, December 5, 2010. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Center Point, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway.
Survivors include a son, Everett “Pete” Edaburn and his wife, Lee Ann of Rewey, Wisconsin; two daughters, Ruth Attwood of Center Point and Rita Molitor and husband, Joe of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; son, Robert; daughter, Ruby; son-in-law, Ray Attwood; and her six siblings, Leona (Lawrence) Randall, Geraldine (Jerry) Thornington, Hilda Foust, Genevieve Deal, Kathryn (Gene) Bower and Kenneth Deal.
Myrla was born October 12, 1914, the daughter of Robert and Lydia (Wright) Deal, in Robins, Iowa. She attended Cedar Ridge School in Center Point and McKinley School in Cedar Rapids. Myrla worked for families in the Cedar Rapids area. On December 22, 1932, she was united in marriage to Raymond Edaburn in Cedar Rapids. They moved to Urbana before settling and farmed in the Center Point area. He died February 12, 1995.
In 1963, Myrla went to work for the Benton County Home, where she loved and enjoyed the residents, retiring after 13 years of service. A flower gardener, Myrla also enjoyed quilting, noodle making, making pies and sewing Monkey Sock Dolls and Raggedy Ann Dolls.
Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice or the Center Point United Methodist Church, in memory of Myrla.
