Murland D. Moran, 71, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, died there Saturday, November 11, 2006, following a brief illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Clinton Jeffers. Burial: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include a sister, Beverly (Henry) Swalley of Marion; and a brother, Richard Moran of Marion. Also surviving is a nephew, Phil (Mary) Tucker of Marion and their children, Susan and Matt Tucker and Melissa (Luke) Wroblewski and their daughter, Teagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Murland was born December 26, 1934, in Mitchell, Iowa, the son of Cornelius and Helen (Cook) Moran. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years and following retirement, he worked as a mechanic and for Greiner Well Service in Toddville. Murland enjoyed his dedication to Congregate Meals and was awarded the 2005 Volunteer of the Year award.

A memorial fund has been established for Congregate Meals at the Witwer Senior Center in Cedar Rapids, in memory of Murland.
