Morgan Hicks, Jr., 79, a resident of Virginia Gay Annex, Vinton, died Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point by Rev. Leo Anderson. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, with military rites.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Mae Hicks, his children, Marie Gregersen (Jack) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, James Hicks of Laguna Beach, California, Virginia Hicks of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Jane Evans of Muscatine, Iowa, Patty Petersen of Quasqueton, Iowa, and Peggy Finkowski (Jim) of Andover, Minnesota, four grandchildren, Matthew Gregersen (Lonette) of Sweden, Andrew Gregersen of Omaha, Nebraska, Kelly Finkowski and Michael Finkowski, of Andover, Minnesota; and four sisters, Dorothy Clifton, Nedra Neville Goeke (Art) and Shirley Carter (Jerry), all of Grinnell, Iowa, and Ruth Varnum (Tom) of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorna Hall.
Morgan was born February 13, 1923, the son of Morgan and Viola (Wentzel) Hicks. He married Laura Mae Cisna on April 23, 1943, in Macon, Georgia. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer and livestock buyer.
Military rites will be performed by the Urbana American Legion Posts #264.
