Mildred Mae (Sloan) Kirk, 95, of Alburnett, died Friday, December 14, 2018. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the funeral home conducted by Reverend Jon Moss. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, Alburnett, IA.

Mildred was born September 11, 1923, in Toddville, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Opal (Quaas) Sloan. She graduated from Alburnett High School in 1942 and was united in marriage to Clifford Kirk on December 6, 1942, at the Alburnett EUB Church.

Mildred was a housewife, and worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm. She also worked at Rockwell Collins, retiring after 20 years. Mildred was very artistic and creative. In her retirement she enjoyed crafting and hosted a weekly craft group in her home. Many gifts were handmade for family and friends. Mildred was a member of the Alburnett United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mildred is survived by her children, Karen (George) Caraway of Worthington, Minnesota, Kenneth (Joan) Kirk of Osage, Iowa, David (Pam) Kirk of Alburnett, Iowa and Patricia (Gale) Jordan of Central City, Iowa; grandchildren, Sheri Denham, Julie Caraway, Annie Battleson, Tim Kirk, Sarah Feiertag, Kim Edwards, Kari Williams, Kelly Kirk, Tricia Redig, Trent Jordan, Kevin Kirk, and Klint Kirk; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and 2 great-great step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Opal Sloan; husband, Clifford Kirk; son, Thomas Kirk; two brothers, Lee Sloan and Allan Sloan; and sister, Virginia Titler.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice and Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon for the exceptional care and love given to Mildred during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mildred’s memory.
