Mildred E. Simonsen (Webster)

Mildred E. Simonsen, 91, of Marion, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, following a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Marion Christian Church in Marion by Rev. Robert Bromley. The family will greet friends 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her five children, Les (Judy) Simonsen of Branson, Missouri, Steven (JoAnn) Simonsen of Roy, Utah, David (Marita) Simonsen of Hiawatha, Dennis (Jean) Simonsen of Coralville, and Cheryl (Glenn) Mills of Walker; thirteen grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings.
Mildred was born August 19, 1917 in Emmetsburg to John and Charlotte (Bumgardner) Webster. She married Harold A. Simonsen September 20, 1933 in Marion. Harold died June 30, 2001. Mildred was a homemaker and was known as a talented seamstress. She was a member of Marion Christian Church for 68 years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mildred’s memory.
