Mildred J. Hansen, 81, a resident of ManorCare Health Services, died, Thursday, September 22, 2005, at the care center, following a lengthy illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Randles. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Jake (Dana) Hansen of Ely; a daughter, Mia (Pat) Alberts of Davenport; a special grandchild who was raised as a daughter, Diana Hansen of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Helen Shady of Maquoketa, Evelyn Hansen of Wyoming, and Mary Holzworth of Olin; and a brother, Howard (Norma) Johnson of Maquoketa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mienhardt; two brothers; five sisters; and a great-grandson.
Mildred was born October 14, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Margaret Edwards Johnson, in Monmouth, Iowa. On August 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Mienhardt "Bud? Hansen. He died August 2, 1979. A longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, Mildred worked as a welder for Iowa Steel and then worked in shipping and receiving at Rockwell Goss, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Believers In Grace Church and the Machinists Union Local 831.
