Mildred G. Cummins
June 20, 1920 — April 14, 2003
Mildred G. Cummins, 82, of 193 Jacolyn Dr. NW, died Monday, April 14, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, April 17, 2003 at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa, the Rev. Diana Hoover will officate. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30, Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion. Burial at the Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Mildred was born June 20, 1920, in rural Marion, to Elbert & Laura (Hickman) Gillmore. Prior to retiring in 1982, she served as site manager for HACAP congregate meals. Mildred enjoyed helping others and spent much of her time volunteering for many local organizations and area businesses. These organizations and businesses include, Mercy Hospital ICU, RSVP, the Council on Aging, the Witwer Center, and the American Red Cross. Mildred was also a resident advocate for the Department of Elder Affairs and served as a board member for Linn County L.I.F.T.S.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Caroline Farah, of Las Vagas, NV; three sons, Alan (Gail) Cummins of Cedar Rapids, Ronald (Sharon) Cummins of Swisher, and Michael (Shelley) Cummins of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Nathan Slaman, Stephanie, Sara, Laura, Bradley, Katelyn, Jordan and Jessica Cummins; one great-grandson, Nathaniel Slaman.
Mildred was preceded in death by her two sisters, Caroline Raddatz and Zelda Gillmore; one brother, Darrell Gillmore and her parents.
A memorial fund has been established in Mildred?s memory.
