Mike Seibert, 67, of Delhi, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Visitation: 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018, at Bohnenkamp – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Greeley Community Church, Greeley, Iowa, with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi, Iowa.
Mike was born July 20, 1950, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Whitehead) Seibert. He was a 1968 graduate of West Delaware High School and a graduate of Ellsworth Community College and UNI. On June 28, 1986, Mike married Karen Sue Koehler at Ainsworth Community Church. He was employed by Garnavillo Community School District before beginning his 26 year career at Maquoketa Valley Schools as an art teacher. Mike also worked as a painter and handyman. He did commissioned artwork and sketches, origami, and glass etching. Mike enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, playing cards, and trips to the casino. He was known for his banana bread, scotcheroos and rolls, and his love of jokes and pranks.
Mike is survived by his wife, Karen of Delhi, three children, Laura Seibert (Steven Durey) of Evansdale, Maggie (Bret) Bergeson of Holland, Michigan, and Jon Seibert of Delhi; six siblings, Jeff (Angie) Seibert, Kevin (Barb) Seibert, Alan (Joyce) Seibert, Diane (Mario) Diaz, Liz (Paul) Heffernen, all of Manchester, and Joni Seibert of Delaware; mother-in-law, Dorothy Koehler and husband, Herb Yoder of Washington, Iowa; brother-in-law, Bob Lee of Manchester; and furry friends, Carl and Lucy.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Seibert; two sisters, Chris Wolf and Linda Lee; and father-in-law, Louis Koehler.
