Mike Brown

Michael “Mike” L. Brown, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away October 28, 2020, at The Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa, following declining health. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Mike graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964 and joined the Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. Mike and Liz Kirk were married in August 1970 and had a daughter, Angie. They later divorced. Mike also married Terry Schrop and divorced. He drove a semi over the road for most of his life, visiting 48 states. Mike enjoyed watching stock car races at Hawkeye Downs. He also enjoyed NASCAR races, fishing, playing cards, playing Xbox, and sharing many a story. Mike had a passion for motorcycles and semis.
Survivors include his father, Ray Brown; children, Angie (James) Pinegar and Dean Sturgeon; stepson, Mark Simmons; grandchildren, Kyle Pinegar, Quinton and Leilah Sturgeon; great-grandchildren, Ivan and Forrest Pinegar; sister, Deb (Bear) Stalkfleet; nephews, Josh & Jesse; niece, Cory; and dear friend, Sherrie Powell.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irma Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
