Michael J. “Wolf” Dryden, 51, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a 4 month battle with cancer. Celebration of Life Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the home of Mike & Laura Chalder, 5703 Ohio St. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include a daughter, Dusty Dryden (friend Lanny Decker) of Winthrop; a son, Dakota (Jen) Dryden of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Addisyn Dryden; significant other, Brenda Kerksieck of Arlington, Texas; his mother, Virginia Dryden of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Susan Dryden; and special friends, Mike & Laura Chalder.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jay Norman Dryden; and a son, Sean Michael Dryden.
Born October 27, 1958, the son of Norman “Jay” Dryden and Virginia (Villa) Dryden in Cedar Rapids, he attended Prairie High School. He worked 22 years at Amana Refrigeration as a fabrication set-up operator and as an industrial firefighter and was a volunteer for the Brooklyn Fire Department. The past 8 years, Mike was employed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a Behavior Detection Officer at Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport. He was also a member of Boozefighters Motorcycle Chapter 2 of Texas. Mike loved to ride his Harleys, helping with bike runs, and long walks with his dog, Darby.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Michael’s name.
