Michael L. Whitcher
February 5, 1944 — November 3, 2003
Michael L. Whitcher, 59, of 990 S. 5th St., died Monday, November 3, 2003, at VA Medical Center in Iowa City, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Mike Morgan. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be at Oak Shade Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Carolyn "Care?; three daughters, Kendra Skinner (Warren) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Sheri Whitcher of Marion and Megan Whitcher of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Dalton and Reilly Whitcher; and a special friend, Don Pearson of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike was born February 5, 1944, the son of Lawrence and Catherina (Annaschot) Whitcher in El Reno, Oklahoma. On November 2, 1968, he married Carolyn Rutt in Columbus City, Iowa. Mike served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Terry Durin Company for over 20 years. Mike was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion.
Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mike?s memory.
