Michael Montague Phelps, 60, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully after a long illness, Monday, October 29, 2012. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time. Rev. Dale Holloway will officiate. Graveside Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his siblings, twin sister, Michele Kelsey (Dale Hadad), Kathie (Cleo) Montgomery and Maydra (Don) Entas; special nephews, Dan, Mikie and Chad and other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Judy Wallerich and Roberta Koehler.
Michael was born September 9, 1952, the son of Robert and Marguerite (Montague) Phelps, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked for Mid-Continent Bottlers as a forklift operator for 17 years. Michael loved fishing, puttering around his home and taking care of his many pets through the years. He was a huge fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed watching old Elvis movies. Michael was a friend to everyone.
