Michael J. Peacock, 71, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, Iowa, followed by a time to share memories, food and fellowship at the LJL Hall on Main Street in Center Point from 2 to 5 p.m. Military honors will be provided by the Center Point American Legion Dye Benion Post #297. Arrangements with Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Survivors include his children, Susan (John) Costello, Jim (Andrea) Andrews and Chris Peacock; five grandchildren; and siblings, Pat (Bonnie) Peacock and Joan (Harold) Schrader.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
Born June 23, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Michael was the son of Harold and Iris (Rammelsburg) Peacock. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Michael spent 47 years as a volunteer fire fighter in Center Point and enjoyed deer hunting, listening to NASCAR races and being in the outdoors.
The family requests you dress casually.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Michael’s family in his memory.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Manor Care and the staff of Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the care they gave Michael.
