Michael Scott Nicholls, 40, of Marion, formerly of Springville, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 20, 2012, following a courageous battle. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; children, Avery, Aden, and Asher; his father Mike Nicholls (Priscilla Sackett) of North Liberty; his mother, Vicki (Steve) Zinkula of Marion; his grandmother, Betty Nicholls of Wellman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Curt and Winifred Cope of Springville; siblings, Heidi (Greg) Winterowd of Toddville, Natalie Nicholls (Norm Austin) of Huntersville, NC, and Matthew (Alissa) Nicholls of Cedar Rapids; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tina Davis of Marion, Sue Paulsen of North Liberty, Jeff (Dawn) Paulsen of NC, and Dana (Carter) LeBeau of Marion; and nieces and nephews, Ashley and Lilly Winterowd, Ashley and Spencer Nicholls, John Davis, Joe and Sam Vance, Brandon (Carla) Norris, Dana and Lauren Paulsen, and Colin, Ian, and Devin LeBeau.
He was preceded in death by his niece Jody Vance.
Michael was born February 25, 1972, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Mike Nicholls and Vicki (Barnes) Zinkula. He graduated from Springville High School in 1990. Michael married Kimberly J. Cope on September 11, 1999, at First United Methodist Church in Marion. He owned and operated Accurate Construction in Marion for 14 years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Michael’s memory.
