Mike "M.J.? Hentges, 53, of Manchester, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at his home from cancer.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville with Rev. Msgr. Ralph Simington officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester with a Rosary service at 2:00 and Vigil service at 7:30. Friends may also call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery, Masonville.
Mike was born on September 4, 1951, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Richard J. & Wanda L. (Theel) Hentges. He attended school in Masonville and Dundee before graduating from West Delaware High School in 1969. Mike worked for Illinois Central Railroad since 1968 as a signal maintainer and signal inspector. On April 12, 1985 Mike was united in marriage to Del Rose Fangmann in Rockford, Illinois. The couple lived in Manchester and Dundee. Mike served on Dundee?s town council and was Mayor for three years. He served in the Iowa National Guard for six years.
Mike was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville and the Catholic Order of Forresters. He enjoyed his 1964 GTO.
Mike is survived by his wife, Del Rose Hentges of Manchester; his mother, Wanda Hentges of Masonville; five brothers, Kenneth (LuAnne) Hentges of Winthrop, Mark (Kay) Hentges of Grundy Center, Jeff (Linda) Hentges of Manchester, Rick Hentges and Lonnie Hentges, both of Masonville; two sisters, Vickie Ziel of Manchester and Penney Cooper of Central City; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hentges.
