Michael T. Hazelton, 22, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 14, 2020. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Legacy Center. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Michael was born on December 3, 1997, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 2016. Michael worked as a cook at the Irish Democrat. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. Michael enjoyed playing video games and Frisbee golf. He cherished the time spent with his family.
Survivors include his parents, Barb and Jim Hazelton of Cedar Rapids; grandmother, Penny Moubry of Marion; grandfathers, Larold Witt of Cedar Rapids, and Cecil Bearden of Tama; half-siblings, Brandi and Isaiah Witt, both of Marion; birth father, Jeff Witt of Cedar Rapids; birth mother, Christy Kaplan of North Carolina; aunts and uncles, Sandra and Paul Svacina of Toledo, Iowa, Brenda and Nick Shafer of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Lisa and Tom Hazelton of Robins, and Deb and Rich Wretman of Iowa City; girlfriend, Jenna Williams of Wapelo; dog, Lady Bug; and many cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Hazelton; and grandmothers, Elva Bearden and Marion Hazelton.
