Michael John Fitzpatrick

Michael John Fitzpatrick, 62, of 131 26th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, in his home, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Christine Wagner-Hecht. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the funeral home. Graveside Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Strawberry Point Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a son, Daniel Fitzpatrick of Cedar Rapids; two stepchildren, Holly LeVelle of Cedar Rapids and Eric LeVelle of Yankton, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Julia LeVelle, who lives Mike & Shirley, Hanna LeVelle of Council Bluffs, Brandon Love and Jaxson Fitzpatrick, both of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Patricia Fridley.
Mike was born April 18, 1946, the son of Marcus and Charlotte (Stone) Fitzpatrick, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A graduate from Strawberry Point High School, he served his country with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. On October 2, 1993, he married Shirley J. Smith in Cedar Rapids. Mike worked at Rockwell Goss for 22 years. He was a member of the Abate District 5, former member of Harley Owners Group and a member of Strawberry Point American Legion Post 218. Mike enjoyed hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
