Mervin A. Miles, 89, of Delhi, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Funeral Services for Merv will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Delhi United Methodist Church by Rev. Lorraine Hartman. Family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 3 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Manchester, IA and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Pine View Cemetery, Delaware.
Merv was born November 15, 1920 in Delhi, the son of Hugh Archie and Margaret (Wilson) Miles. Merv received his education through country schools and attending and graduating from the Delhi High School. On January 1, 1943, he was united in marriage to Ruby Pearl Brutsman at Buck Creek.
Merv worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, later farming in the Delhi area until 1971. He worked at the Delhi Lumber Yard until his retirement.
Merv was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church, enjoyed antique tractors, watching his favorite TV programs including baseball and basketball, cheering on the Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Merv is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Jerry) Pitcher of Delhi; two grandchildren, Michelle (Brendon) Porter and Bryon Pitcher; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald and Norman Miles of Hopkinton, Doris Priebe of Cleveland, and Mary Haigh of Manchester.
Merv was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Miles; his parents, Hugh and Margaret Miles; a daughter, Marjorie; siblings, Winona Flannagan, Gertrude Flannagan, Dixie DeHaven, LeRoy Miles, and LaRue Keith.
