Merlin “Merle” Recker, 65, of Gillette, WY, formerly of Manchester, IA, passed away suddenly in his sleep on June, 20, 2015, in Marion, IA. Visitation: 2:00 to 5:00 PM Saturday June 27, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Gillette, Wyoming.

Survivors include his wife Susan (Petrick) Recker of Gillette, WY; daughter, Dawn of Marion, IA; son, Nathan and granddaughters, Oaklynn and Cedar of Gillette, WY; daughter, Michelle (Ben) Fox, grandson Tanner, and granddaughters, Payton, Larkin and Braylin of Prairie City, SD; daughter, Emily (Ryan) Villmow, grandson, Caiden and granddaughter, Ashtyn of Gillette, WY. Surviving siblings include brothers, Richard of Delhi, Gary (Ginny) of Manchester, Mark (Debra) of Manchester, Mike of Earlville, Robert (Debra) of Strawberry Point, Jeff (Julie) of Marion, Steve (Christine) of Iowa Falls, David (Jodi) of Lancaster, WI; and sisters, Diane (Jerry) Rolwes of Farley, Susie (Denny) Stephan of Freeport, IL, Mary Jane (Steve) Michaels of St. Ansgar, Nancy (Mike) Brannon of Parkersburg, and Denise (Mike) Pirc of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Dolores (Lueck) Recker; his brothers, Kevin and Dennis; and sister-in-law, Jean Recker.

Merle was born January 17, 1950, in Manchester, Iowa, son of Julius and Dolores (Lueck) Recker. He graduated from West Delaware High School in 1968. He married Susan K. Petrick on September 14, 1974, in Manchester. Merle and his family moved to Gillette, WY in late November 1985. After working a short time at Carl’s Water Service, he began a 25 year career as a bulk fuel truck driver for Farmer’s Co-op. He retired from there at the end of 2014.

Merle was a very hard working, loyal and faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and employee. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. His hobbies included working at his job, playing with grandkids, watching old TV westerns, going to auctions, helping the Fox family on the ranch, clay pigeon shooting, and traveling.
