Merle M. Winch Sr.

Merle M. Winch Sr., 82, of Hopkinton (Buck Creek), Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021. A Private Family Service will take place followed by burial at the Buck Creek Cemetery, Hopkinton, Iowa. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is assisting the family.
Merle was born on May 31, 1939, in Delaware County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Theresa (Leclere) Winch. He was a 1958 graduate of Buck Creek High School. Merle Sr. married Lois Sutton on November 15, 1958, in Monticello. He and Lois farmed all of their lives around the Buck Creek/ Hopkinton area where they raised their family. Merle worked as a Machinist for Clinton Engines and Iowa Precision formerly known as Welty Way.
Merle Sr. is survived by his children, Joni Kinkead of Alburnett, Iowa, Merle Winch Jr. (Tammy Danger) of Manchester, Lisa Winch of Monticello, and Stacey Winch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren; and his sisters, Novella Cunningham of Marion, Iowa, and Mary (Gary) Goodlove of Covington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Theresa Winch; his wife Lois who passed away in July; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Winch; brothers, Lyle (Elizabeth) Winch, Martin (Martha) Winch; one sister, Imogene (Norman) Snell; and one brother-in-law, James Cunningham.
