Merle May "Tootie" Geiger (Fritz)

Merle May “Tootie” Geiger, 65, of 4410 M. Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, September 7, 2007, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Covington.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; her children, Sally and husband Mike Mulder of Omaha, Nebraska, Marilyn and husband Mark Sutton of Cedar Rapids, Leland and wife Regina Geiger of Junction City, Kansas, and Susan Geiger and boyfriend Sam Fountain of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Trisha, Caron, Paul, Crystal, Jennifer, Adam, Steven, Dawn, Tiffany, Ricky and Jacob; two great-granddaughters, Karmyn and Mackenzie; three sisters; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two grandchildren, Corey and Tonya.
Merle was born February 6, 1942, the daughter of Virgil and Melsena (Spicer) Fritz, Sr., in Iowa City, Iowa. On January 21, 1959, she married Donald Geiger in Iowa City. Merle worked at May’s Drugstore, Parsons Technology and most recently with U S Bank. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Merle.
