Merle "Dean? Manson, 75, of Manchester, Iowa died of lung cancer on Thursday evening, March 25, 2004, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood, Iowa.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2004 at First Lutheran Church in Manchester, with Rev. Jean Rabary officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Home in Manchester and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Dean was born on December 2, 1928 in Delaware County, Iowa, the son of William and Ulla (Anderson) Manson. He attended school in Manchester. On October 31, 1946 Dean was united in marriage to Dorothy F. Helmrich at St. Paul?s Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Dean worked for Elk Ready Mix in Manchester. He was later self-employed as an over-the-road owner/operator for Van Huff Trucking and Lahr Trucking.
Dean was a member of First Lutheran Church in Manchester. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include four children, Bob (Sharon) Manson and Russell (Debra) Manson of Manchester, Linda Kehoe of Jesup, Michael Manson of Marion; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Manson, Gerald Manson and Bill Manson, all of Manchester; four sisters, Norma Helmrich, Vanita Clendennen and Joyce Hauschild, all of Manchester, and Margie Arbequst of Muscoda, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy on November 12, 1990; infant twins, Donald & Donna; three brothers, Bud, Ronald & Hubert Manson; and a sister, Eileen Satterlee.
