Melvin Morgan, 87, 915 Valley Street, Center Point, died Monday, August 11, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by Rev. Leo Andersen. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, Iowa.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie McMann and husband Lee of Center Point; three sons, Dennis and wife Cynde of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Terry and wife Tracie of Center Point, and Larry and wife Frederika of Costa Mesa, California and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his parents; and a daughter, Donna, at birth; a sister, Bernadene Nelson and a brother, Lawrence Morgan.
Melvin was born October 18, 1915, in Central City, Iowa, the son of Harry and Ida May Kessler Morgan. He married Gladys Reid on April 16, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Melvin worked at Wilson Foods for 37 years and was a life long resident of Center Point. He enjoyed his family, baseball games, sightseeing, gardening and his grandchildren?s activities. Melvin was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
