Melvin Kummerfeldt passed away August 18, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born April 11th, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa to Carl C. and Esther M. (Witte). Melvin graduated from Ruthven High School in 1955. On August 25th ,1959 Melvin married Marietta Kuehler in Spencer, Iowa. He had recently joined the Air Force so he spent the next four years stationed at various bases around the Midwest. Melvin was honorably discharged in 1963 and moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to begin a career with Square D. He retired from there in 2002.
Melvin enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cards, trips with family and friends and was a long-time friend of Bill W.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Marietta and an infant son James Carl. His surviving family are five sons; John (Shari) of Center Point, IA, Mike (Laurie) of Cedar Rapids, IA, David (Vickie) of Jacksonville, NC, Robert (Polly) of Colorado Springs, CO and Mark of Phoenix, AZ. 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will host a celebration of Melvin’s life at 1:00 p.m. on September 28, 2024, at Anchor Bible Church, 275 Green Street W, Center Point, Iowa. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available on the Anchor Bible Church Facebook page:
