Melvin R. Meister, 51, died December 26, 2011 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, IA following a sudden illness.
Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to services on Thursday.
Melvin was born February 7, 1960 in Manchester, the son of Albert Meister and Ruth Ann Sheppard. He attended West Delaware Schools and then went to work for a body shop in Manchester and Wisconsin, returning to Hawkeye, IA to farm. His joys were farming and his grandchildren who he loved taking fishing and going to their dance recitals.
Melvin is survived by one daughter, Jessica (Tim) Casper of Dubuque; two granddaughters, Alexis Nicole and Mercedes Rose Casper; siblings, Maria (Leonard) Haight, Terry Meister, and Albert (Marsha) Meister all of Manchester.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruth Meister; one daughter, Michelle and one sister, Nettie P. Meister; and grandparents, Ross and Francis Sheppard.
