Melvin F. Lowery, 84, a longtime resident of the Abbe Center for Community Care, died there Saturday, February 23, 2008, following a brief illness. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Chaplain Jeremy Hudson. Per Melvin’s wishes there will be no visitation. Private interment will be at Center Point Cemetery.
Surviving are several friends in the community and at the Abbe Center.
Melvin was born May 8, 1923, the son of William H. and Sarah P. Lowery in Linn County. They preceded him in death.
Melvin enjoyed spending time at Camp Courageous and Time Check in Cedar Rapids.
