Melba F. (Brawner) Winegar, 84, of Vinton, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and Houston, Texas, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from complications of diabetes. Memorial Services: 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah?s Witness, 2389 61st Street, Vinton, Iowa.

Survivors include two children, Darrell (Annette) Baker and Darlene (James) Wilmoth, both of Texas; two brothers, Dean (Glennis) Brawner of Colfax and Arnold (Hilda) Brawner of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Mary Viter of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two husbands; a brother, Loran Brawner; a nephew, Tracy Brawner; and a brother-in-law, Ward Viter.

Melba was born October 6, 1919, the daughter of O.W. and Daisy Kolosiek Brawner, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A graduate of the 1937 Class from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids, she attended Coe College where she studied voice. Melba loved music and played the organ beautifully. In 1939, she married Edward Baker. Melba later married Troy "Dutch? Winegar of Solon. She was an active member of the Vinton Congregation of Jehovah?s Witness.
