Maxine A. Offerman, 87, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Ryan, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ryan, by Father Joseph Schneider. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Inurnment: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Nick (Nancy) Offerman of Buffalo, NY, Tom (Angie) Offerman of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Karen Pickard) Offerman of Council Bluffs, Kim (Deb) Offerman of Delran, NJ, Abby (Frank) Unertl of Manchester, and Scott (Cindy) Offerman of Omaha, NE; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings.
Maxine was born October 3, 1927, in rural Delaware County, the daughter of Albert and Bessie (Franks) Young. She married John Dorrance Offerman on October 3, 1947, in Merced, California. Together, Maxine and John farmed in Ryan for over 40 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and loyal friend. Maxine enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and crocheting. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ryan.
