Maxine “Micki” E. Rohrssen, 90, of Manchester, IA died April 19, 2012 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a brief illness.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Manchester United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Druhl. Internment will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton, IA. Family will also greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 23 at Maxine’s home, 112 Tower Drive, Manchester.
Maxine was born February 28, 1922 to Grahm H. and Hazel (Ernst) Kirby at Story City, Iowa. Maxine attended Iowa Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls receiving her teaching degree. On June 16, 1946, Maxine was united in marriage to Warren E. Rohrssen in Story City, Iowa. The couple lived in Waterloo until moving to Manchester in 1965. Maxine worked for the Manchester Press as an Ad Compositor.
Maxine was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church, Manchester United Methodist Women’s, Mothers’ Club, and a Bridge Club.
Maxine is survived by a daughter, Linda (Mike) Sherfy of Grand Marais, MN; a son, Craig (Alice) Rohrssen of Montezuma, IA; three grandchildren, Mark (Mindy) Sherfy, Megan (Benjamin) Rohrssen-Harrison and Charles Rohrssen; two great-grandsons, Joshua and Jordon Sherfy; one sister, Mary Bagnall of Ames and many nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Warren in 2004; her parents, Grahm and Hazel Kirby and a brother, Dean Kirby.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Manchester United Methodist Church in Maxine’s memory.
